When To Come
Nine years of walking past the booking screen in the barn office. Here's the pattern.
Day of the week
| Day | Vibe | Fills up |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday | Loud, families, kids running pre-show. Peak atmosphere. | Sold out 7–10 days ahead for the 5 pm; 3–5 days for the 8 pm. |
| Sunday | Slightly quieter, a lot of out-of-town visitors. | Sold out most weekends by Friday. |
| Friday | Early show family, late show more adults. | Usually sold out by Thursday for the 8 pm. |
| Thursday | Half-full. Staff can breathe between courses. | Rarely sells out until the day of. |
| Tue–Wed | Calmest. Horse rotation is more relaxed, service is faster. | Rarely fills. |
| Monday | Usually dark (no show). Check the operator's calendar. | — |
By season
- December is a rush. Corporate parties, school trips, holiday dinners — book in October if you want December. Expect larger groups, slower service, louder room.
- March break and summer camps fill the weekday 5 pm shows with camp groups. The adult atmosphere disappears.
- January–February is the quietest. Easy bookings, best for a first-time visit, best for the vegetarian kitchen because the chef isn't swamped.
- June and September get wedding-adjacent groups — bachelor and bachelorette parties on Fridays and Saturdays. If that's not your scene, go earlier in the week.
Weather
Snow does not cancel the show — the castle is heated and the tournament is indoor. What it does affect is parking and the pedestrian walk from TTC. In January, the hill down from Lawrence West station is often ice. Take a cab or rideshare if the sidewalks look white.
How far ahead to book
Rule of thumb: for Saturday or Sunday, book at least two weeks ahead. For weekdays, two or three days is enough. For December, book in October.
Last-minute? The operator sometimes releases held
seats 24 hours before. Keep refreshing their calendar in the
afternoon for an evening show — don't drive to the gate and hope.
